Those fleeing domestic abuse are able to travel on trains for free until the end of March, as set up between rail companies and Women’s Aid. The scheme was initially piloted in 2019 by Southeastern, with all companies joining the scheme by the end of April 2020.

Hopefully this will continue after the Covid-19 pandemic, and be a step forward for victims being able to leave abusive situations safely, without the restrictions of financial control and economic abuse.
