A message from Oxfordshire Complex Needs Team regarding a new support group that is running this year.

We are a Complex Needs Team within A2Dominion Domestic Abuse Services. We offer support to clients who have experienced domestic abuse and are experiencing poor mental wellbeing. This could be a more long term pattern or causing rather more severe difficulties than that expected at the ending of a relationship, and may or may not include a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder, depression, anxiety, PTSD.

We have successfully completed 3 Managing Emotions Groups for Buckinghamshire, and we’re due to start another group on the 9th February, for a period of 12 weeks every Tuesday between 10am-12 noon. It was intended that this would be offered face to face but due to COVID-19 restrictions we have amended it to facilitate online via Zoom. This group is free to both clients and referrers. We ask that any clients that you may wish to refer have a safe space to access the course, any provisions based on childcare arrangements, internet connection and a device then can access the course.

We are now accepting referrals for our next group due to start 9th February 2021 our referral form includes more information regarding the group and criteria. We are also able to accept self-referrals if the potential client prefers to make contact direct on telephone 0800 731 0055. The referral does not guarantee a space on the group, all referrals are triaged to try to ensure that clients are able to gain positive benefit from attending, and we may signpost to other services as a first step for some.

The poster and the referral explains everything about the group, but professionals can email us for further information.

Our programme is aimed at recovery, so if clients are currently experiencing abuse they should be referred to the usual local domestic abuse services in Bucks or the National Helpline on 0808 2000 247 for risk assessment, safety planning and specialist support.

We are also holding a Coffee/Tea afternoon on the 19th January between 2pm-3pm for referrers to come and meet the Managing Emotions Group facilitators, it is an informal event to learn more about what is on offer and to ask any questions. We will also have past graduates of our Managing Emotions Group present to offer any feedback or answer any questions you may have about their experience within the group. Please email Anchor.Programme@a2dominion.co.uk for joining instructions and meeting passcodes.
