In a recent high profile case, Penelope Jackson was found guilty of murdering her husband and sentenced to a minimum sentence of 18 years.

The trial lasted for two and half weeks and heard her admission to 999 call handlers at the scene. The incident occurred after an argument over a birthday meal. 

During the trial, the retired accountant told the court that her husband had coercively controlled her, including preventing her from seeing friends and even deciding what she watched on TV.
