This Bill is currently still in the House of Commons at committee stage, but it has received a lot of coverage and created many discussions around its subject already. While the bill does not specifically cover just domestic abuse, it will impact on cases.

The bill has been proposed to make provision in respect to:

  • Collaboration between authorities to prevent and reduce serious violence
  • Offensive weapons homicide reviews
  • New offences and for the modification of existing offences
  • The powers of the police and other authorities for the purposes of preventing, detecting, investigating, or prosecuting crime or investigating other matters
  • The maintenance of public order
  • Bail and remand
  • Sentencing, detention, release, management, and rehabilitation of offenders
