Agenda (the alliance for women and girls at risk) and the Standing Committee for Youth Justice (SCYJ) have published a literature review looking at the experiences of young women aged 17–25 years old in contact with the criminal justice system in England and Wales. The literature review found that: between three quarters and 90% of young women may have experienced abuse from a family member or someone they trusted; 63% of young women (aged 16–24) have experienced rape or domestic abuse in intimate partner relationships; child sexual exploitation was identified as a risk to girls in all youth offending team areas; and the criminal exploitation of young women has increased during the coronavirus crisis.
