Environmental Policy

Our Commitment to the Environment

At Reducing the Risk of Domestic Abuse (RtR), we recognise that everyone has a role to play in protecting the environment and reducing the impact of climate change. While our primary mission is to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse, empower professionals and strengthen communities, we are committed to operating in a way that minimises our environmental impact and supports a more sustainable future.

As a small charity, we focus on practical and achievable actions that reduce waste, conserve resources and lower carbon emissions. We continually review our working practices to identify opportunities to improve our environmental performance.

Our current commitments include:

  • Reducing paper usage through digital working and electronic communications

  • Providing electronic training certificates rather than printed copies.

  • Using hybrid and flexible working arrangements to reduce travel and commuting emissions.

  • Promoting recycling within our office and encouraging environmentally responsible behaviours among staff and volunteers.

  • Reducing our digital footprint by reviewing data storage, removing unnecessary files and maintaining an efficient website.

  • Purchasing sustainable products where possible, including promotional materials made from recycled materials and sourced from UK suppliers.

  • Encouraging energy-efficient practices such as switching off lights, monitors and equipment when not in use.

  • Supporting local initiatives that reduce waste and promote sustainability.

We understand that environmental responsibility is an ongoing journey. Through our Climate Action Plan, we are committed to continually reviewing our impact, identifying new opportunities for improvement and embedding sustainability into the way we work.

By taking these steps, we aim to contribute positively to our communities while ensuring that our services remain effective, responsible and sustainable for future generations.
